STA Announces 2025 Women’s Symposium Keynote Speaker

STA is pleased to announce this year’s keynote speaker, Becky Blades. She describes herself as “writer, artist, strategist, stARTist,” and recently authored a book titled Start More Than You Can Finish. In this thought-provoking book, Blades draws on hundreds of interviews with stARTists, as well as research in neuroscience, creativity and behavioral science to arrive at a fresh take on starting and finishing.



Freshmen Discover Rich History of Founders

Last week, freshmen students in Star Seminars spent time learning about the rich history of our founders, the Sisters of St. Joseph, and how their work and charism continues to influence us to this day.



STA Alumna Receives Papal Visit

Anne Marie Whitehead (’10), now Sister Mary Altar of Sacrifice, SSVM, is five years into her mission in Vanimo, Papua New Guinea, a Pacific island country located to the north of Australia. Last September, she had ” … a surreal, once-in-a-lifetime experience” when Pope Francis paid the mission a visit.



Ancestors of STA Alumnae Canonized

Marilyn (Harris, ’61) Dabaghi and more than 30 family and extended family members traveled to Rome late last year for a unique and very special occasion: their ancestors, known as The Massabki Brothers, were canonized as Maronite saints by Pope Francis on October 20, 2024.

STA Earns School of Distinction Status

St. Teresa’s Academy announced today that it has earned Cognia® Accreditation, with School of Distinction status. Only 60 schools worldwide earned this honor. STA was the only school in Kansas or Missouri to receive this.



STA Names 2024 Distinguished Alumna and Star Athletic Hall of Fame Inductees

St. Teresa’s Academy is proud to announce this year’s Distinguished Alumna, Marion (Spence, ’87) Pierson, M.D., and two inductees into the Athletic Hall of Fame, Kathy (Teahan, ’76) Jantasch and Sue Christenson (posthumous award).



STA Extends “Accredited” Status to More Than 100 Consecutive Years

In summer 2024, STA’s institutional accreditation was once again renewed. The Academy first earned this accolade in 1923, making this the school’s 101st consecutive year of being accredited. In addition, the school earned STEM certification for its outstanding work in STEM-related programming.
